HardHat Rights is an independent educational platform dedicated to making workers’ compensation information clear, practical, and accessible for the people who need it most: construction workers and their families.
Our Mission
Construction is one of the most dangerous industries in the United States. When an injury happens, workers are often left confused, stressed, and unsure of what they are entitled to. Insurance processes are complex, deadlines are easy to miss, and reliable information can be hard to find when you need it most.
Our goal is simple: to translate dense, jargon-heavy workers’ compensation information into plain, honest English. We believe that an informed worker is an empowered worker — and that understanding your rights is the first step toward protecting them.
What We Do
We create and maintain free educational guides, plain-language explanations, and practical tools — such as our Benefits Estimator — that help injured workers understand general concepts around workers’ compensation. Everything we publish is built on publicly available information and standard industry formulas, and it is written to be understood by someone reading it for the very first time.
What We Are Not
HardHat Rights is not a law firm and is not a medical provider. We are not attorneys, paralegals, doctors, or licensed professionals of any kind. We do not provide legal advice, medical advice, or financial advice, and nothing on this website creates an attorney-client relationship.
We do not represent clients, file claims on your behalf, or advocate in any legal or insurance proceeding. The information we provide is general and educational in nature. It is not a substitute for personalized advice from a licensed workers’ compensation attorney in your state or from a qualified healthcare provider.
Why We Built This
We started HardHat Rights because we saw too many hardworking people lose benefits they were legally entitled to — not because they did anything wrong, but because no one explained the system to them in a way they could actually use. Public information about workers’ rights exists, but it is often buried in legal language that is difficult to navigate during an already stressful time.
By gathering that public information, organizing it, and presenting it honestly, we hope to give injured construction workers a clear starting point. From there, we always encourage readers to consult the licensed professionals who can advise them on their specific situation.
Our Commitment to Accuracy
We review our content periodically and aim to reflect standard, widely accepted information. However, workers’ compensation laws vary significantly from state to state and change over time. We always recommend verifying anything that affects your case with a licensed professional in your jurisdiction.
